Special Objects: To Carry Or Not To Carry?

People with as ASD often carry special objects with them. These objects can vary from person to person – DVD cases, certain toys, string. I even know an adult with Asperger Syndrome who used to carry a card in his pocket from his school days that said “lunch”. The object may be carried for a variety of reasons: to fill a sensory need, to alleviate anxiety, it may be related to a special interest, or it can be a reminder of an event or place.
