Alberta Association for Community Living

A family based, non-profit organization representing the interests of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families from across Alberta.

Association of Social Workers in Northern Canada

Professional Social Workers in the North are found in many settings. Areas of practice include child protection, adoption, services to the aged and handicapped, alcohol and drug counseling, income support,
child and family therapies, mental health services, correctional services and social planning. There are few specialists – most social workers are called upon to provide a wide spectrum of services.

Autism Resource Centre (Moncton)

The purpose of the Autism Resource Centre (ARC) is to make available and accessible social support, self-help, public education, and a broad array of resources for persons with autism and their families. This includes a lending library for information, books, toys, and other educational resource materials.

Babysits – Special Needs

A Canadian website that lists babysitters with experience in looking after special needs children. Children come in all shapes and sizes; some need a bit of extra attention and care. However, finding a babysitter capable of caring for your child’s special needs can be difficult. This is why the Babysits for Special Needs program exists; for parents who are looking for the right attention and specialized care for their child.

Caregiver Centered Care

Caregiver Centered Care is person-centered care for family caregivers. It is about a collaborative working relationship between families and health and community care professionals. This means supporting family caregivers in their caregiving role, decisions about services, care management, and advocacy.

Connecting Pieces (Ottawa)

An Ottawa region consultation service that was created especially for the parents of children with autism. Its first goal is to empower these parents to take control of their child’s progress while making changes to the family’s natural environment.
