Applied Behavioural Interventions

Committed to providing their students with the necessary tools so that they may live their life to its greatest potential. Using the principles of applied behaviour analysis, they emphasize language and social skill acquisition using a verbal behaviour approach within the comforting environment of your home. Working with the entire family, they are committed to parent and sibling training so that learning and development continues, even when they are not there.

Association for Supported Community Connections (no website)

ASCC currently provides In-Home Respite, Out of Home Respite, Community Support, Life Skills Training, and Transitional Planning. ASCC also has a children/youth respite home called “Maitland House” that is located in Spruce Grove, Alberta. Maitland House provides 24 hour support for up to 30 days a year.

Autism Aspergers Friendship Society

The AFS provides respite care in a recreational environment for families with children-teens-adults in the Autism/Aspergers/PDD spectrum in the Calgary area.

Autism Early Childhood Therapy Program

The program is for preschool children who have a diagnosis of autism or pervasive developmental disorder. Enrollment is limited. Children living within the boundaries of the Saskatoon Health Region and the five school division partners are eligible.

Autism Society Manitoba

Dedicated to the promotion of quality of life for people with Pervasive Development Disorder/Autism and their families. Our educational resources, advocacy, and structured social opportunities are a benefit to families and professionals and make a significant contribution to our community.

Autismo Sevilla (Spain)

An organisation set up in Seville, southern Spain, in 1997, with the aim of promoting the needs of individuals with autism and other pervasive developmental disorders.

Babysits – Special Needs

A Canadian website that lists babysitters with experience in looking after special needs children. Children come in all shapes and sizes; some need a bit of extra attention and care. However, finding a babysitter capable of caring for your child’s special needs can be difficult. This is why the Babysits for Special Needs program exists; for parents who are looking for the right attention and specialized care for their child.

BC Association for Community Living

A provincial association dedicated to promoting the participation of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects community life. We also support activities dedicated to building inclusive communities that value the diverse abilities of all people.

BC Centre for Ability

A non-profit organization with over 34 years of experience in the field of disabilities, providing individualized therapy and support services to children and youth in their homes and communities, specialized community living services and comprehensive vocational and support services for adults, and promoting successful community participation for individuals with disabilities.

BC Coalition of People with Disabilities

A provincial, cross-disability advocacy organization. Our mandate is to raise public and political awareness of issues that concern us. We hope, through our work, to facilitate the full participation of people with disabilities in all aspects of society and to promote independence.
